John Stephen Nicknish, 26, of 517 S. Governor St., died Sunday morning from an accidental fall while camping in the Elkader area. (See story on this page ) Born Oct. 4, 1960, in Washington, D.C., he was a 1978 graduate of Regina High School and received his bachelor's degree in 1972 from Notre Dame University. He was a third-year medical student at the University of Iowa and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Survivors include his parents, Thomas and Barbara Nicknish of Iowa City; four sisters, Carolyn and Anita, both of Chicago, Mary Helen Jackson of Boston and Virginia of Iowa City; and four brothers, Paul of Minneapolis, and Christopher, Tim and Tom of Iowa City; and a grandmother, Anita Nicknish of Utica, N.Y.
